Ring wire comes in
two pitch sizes; 3:1 pitch and 2:1
pitch. Pitch size is determined by the
number of punches per inch. i.e. 3:1 pitch would
be 3 punches per inch and 2:1 would be two
punches per inch.
The major difference
between 2:1 and 3:1 pitch is 2:1 pitch bindings
hold more paper than 3:1.
The maximum number of
sheets a 3:1 pitch can hold is 120 compared to
220 at 2:1 pitch.
